Rakov Skocjan in Winter

After the New Year holidays it was a wonderful Winter in Slovenia. My father and I decided to check out the Cerknica lake. We knew that it had plenty of water at that time and we hoped it was frozen all over. At Karlovica cave there are usually lovely icicles in the Winter, but when we arrived it was a bit disappointing. The icicles were to small and they were only a few. The lake was frozen indeed, but we already have some nice Winter photos of the lake from before. We decided to check out the Rakov Skocjan regional park.

Pericnik Waterfall in Winter

Pericnik Waterfall was on the top of my wish-list for photography this winter. Until now I was too busy with my other projects and I couldn’t go there although the weather conditions were perfect. It was arctic cold for the last month and the weather was shiny. This weekend I checked the weather forecast and realised that there will be only one day before the thaw. A call for an action! I must live in heaven!

This morning was beautiful. I woke up at half past five to be on location before sunrise. Crt and I decided a day before to go to Ljubljana castle, because the visibility was supposed to be excellent due to rain and strong winds. Morning was just perfect – clear sky was promising great views and Ljubljana was caught in heavy fog. Here is just one of the photos that I succeeded to take.
