Hiking the Kosuta ridge
July 23, 2009 by Luka

A day after I graduated (finally) I went hiking to Karavanke Alps in Gorenjska region. The weather was superb and I decided to go to Kosuta mountain range. Starting point was Kofce pasture hut and the first goal was Veliki Vrh peak. From there I walked the range to the East and enjoyed vistas of Slovenian and Austrian Alps.

The Kosuta range. On the left (North) there is Austria, on the right – Slovenia. The entire range (about 10-11km) represents the border between these two countries.

Alpine flowers. A kind of Carnation, I guess.

Pure joy 1.

Pure joy 2.

Pure joy 3.

Cheeky jackdaw. These funny birds were flying along the ridge in huge flocks. They are quite tame and some of them came very close to me. In exchange for some breadcrumbs of course.

Last sun rays on the ridge. The colours changed dramatically and the wind started to blow strongly.

It was damn cold, but I waited a bit longer. To get this photo…

This blog is about my two greatest passions; photography and travelling. I want to share my experiences with as many people as possible. If you like this place, leave me a comment and show it to your friends as well! Enjoy!

Hahaha, what a coincidence! I was just here on Sunday.

It’s a great hike, isn’t it? Kudos for waiting for the sunset, the colors are really fantastic.
@Ana: I am waiting for your photos;)
@Jure: Hvala! Zadnja je sicer namenoma taka – v PS dodan viola filter, da je malce drugačna. Ni pa čisto realno:)
Spet mamljive fotke, ki tokrat vabijo v višave …
Čestitam
Ivan
Spet te moram hvalit

You should plan to try hiking in Australia – in Victorian alps or in NSW along the Great North Walk. Enjoy.
